I'm currently putting together my setup for the summer. I'm thinking a 15x5" front and either a 15x8" with 4.5" backspace or 15x10" with a 6.5" bs rear wheel. Biggest problem I'm having is figuring out the tire heights. A 15x8 I can get a 28" tall tire that I know will work, but I really wanted to fit a 15x10" and I'm afraid that a 26.7" tall tire is going to look to small. If I had an unlimited budget - I could get 28x12x15" form Mickey Thompson, but $200 bucks each for a radial is too much for an every day driver.
Anyone run bias-plys? How do they handle on a driver?
Thanks,
Steve
Only time I run my 15X8's with my 28" ET streets is at the track. Otherwise Im running my 17X9's with 245/45's all the way around.

well we need to know if you have you truck lowered any?
an have you done a rear gear ?
also do you have turbo done already ?
a 28 in tire will clear an 3in drop in the rear. but if you dont have a gear or power to turn it, it will make the truck even more of a old dog.
i have a 3/2 drop with a 26 in tire(235/60/15) on the rear an a 25 in (205/70/15)on the front. thats on 94 15x7 explorer rim. also i have a 410 8.8 gear .
i had a (235/75/15) 28in tire on there but it was close on the lip with the drop but im planing on another 3/3 drop yet so a 26 will be as big as ill go.
as for bias-ply you can use them as a daily just they will wear faster thats all an squeal a bit more in turns.
(you could buy my 28/10.5 sportsman that still have stickers on them just summit shipped the wrong 1s an it cost me more to ship them back to the ohio )

Right now it has about a 2" drop on the rear (sits level) and I haven't installed the front springs yet. The motor isn't going in until the spring and I will be installing an 8.8 with 3.73 gears at the same time.
I guess my biggest fear is that I don't want a tire that doesn't fill the wheel wells and looks out of place. I like the classic Pro-Street / hot rod look - big on the back and skinnys on the front.
I ran bias plys back in high school, but that was on a '71 Mercury that was set up for them and it was still a handfull. Since I drive this truck everyday I don't want something that is a pain to handle all the time.

well a 26x10.5 will fill it quite well an will be for then enough for the gear an a turbo. could put a 165r/15 on the front.but if you feel you need a lil more a 205/70/15 is the next biggest size.
i also like the classic big an lil look with a lowered stance slight rake.

I think I am going to try a 295/50r15 on the back, they are about 26.5" tall and then get a 205/65r15 on the front which is about 25.5". This should look good and still handle pretty well.
Thanks for all the opinions.

I'm runnin 255/55/18s on the rear, thats 29.04 OD and it fills er up nice. Stock height though... Probably wouldnt clear if it were lowered a couple inches.

they are just regular 17x10.5s off of my mustang....i had to run a 1 inch adapter on the front to clear the hub though....the rears fit perfect..it could prob do a 345 if they made one
