Since everyone knows it’s such a pain, and not all of us have access to the tools to gut/port a upper intake manifold I figured I would let everyone know that I am working on a custom upper that will be very affordable. You will also have the options of bolting a 65mm throttle body on with no problems, keeping your egr, or having it rotated to your liking for extra. This means no expensive provisional adapter, just a simple bolt-on affair!

They will base at $250...which is nearly the cost for removing the EGR port, fitting a 65mm TB, porting/gutting/rotating and paying core charge for the stock manifold!

Here are the options I have available:
3" intake manifold
3.5" intake manifold ($10 more)
4" intake manifold ($15 more)

EGR (if you were interested in that, I still need to get a flange cnc'ed but that wouldn't take long) ($25 more)

Hustler Nitrous ports
Instead of running a nitrous plate kit in between the manifold and TB you will be able to setup a kit into the TB flange of the manifold! ($30 more)

120* ($10 more)
90*
Stock location ($10 more)

Here are some pictures! Keep in mind the 5.0 TB is not made, and its still hasn't been cut to size and welded...just some pictures to generate interest since it's so near completion.

Pictured is our LARGEST upper manifold...a 4" and the black tape is so it doesn't get damaged while being worked on.

Based on the pics, it looks taller than the stock upper intakes? This the goal, or is it just a mock up picture to give us the idea of how it will look? Either way I'm happy to have someone offering these. That machined base is nice!

It's for mockup purposes, still needs to be cut and welded. Hopefully early next week I will have completed pictures!

If you guys could get 10 of you together for a group buy I could do a good group buy discount.

Can you fix the pictures for me?!

You are linking the pics from another forum's album. Not sure I can fix them to show. Try hosting them from photobucket.com

are you willing to sell the base flange by itself?

Are these being made yet?

OP's last activity was on 12-5-09, without any updates since 10-5-09. This is about to become unstickied.

I'm not too much into the older 2.3 stuff, just the Ranger specific stuff. Is there a lot of call for these T-bird based rotated uppers?

Of coarse there is, I'm running a 1988 T/C engine in my 1996 Ranger:hehe:

I think it would be nice if someone made something for the ranger intakes.

hell, its nice and all but much simpler to just toss a regular upper in my bandsaw and hack off the lower and upper plate. then just get a 3" aluminum elbow off ebay for $25 and go to a welder for $30 and have him weld the elbow to the two plates and resurface it flat. hog out the tb plate to whatever size tb you use and voila.

at least thats what I did.

I have been thinking about developing a cast aluminum replacement upper intake for the ranger inline dual plug lower intake with a relocated throttle body. I just don't know if there is really any interest in it.

I think thats basically what I'm gonna end up with, but I'll probably see if a welding shop could just build a simple plenum by just chopping the stock flange off of the lower. Might cost around 200$

I have thought about using just the lower, and getting a 2 or 3inch block of aluminum and bringing the ports together and doing what he has done with the plate on top. I will post a drawing of my idea later. http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af172/jfive_5/myrangerheadandintake.jpg http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af172/jfive_5/intakedesign.jpg

I don't. :yesnod: Thats what I love about not having it too. Only one month here that you really want a/c and only when your stopped. The second design would work with it though. I wish i had access to a cnc machine. It would be pretty easy to make that one really.
