bought a flywheel and clutch package for the pinto and although i was told its standard 2.3 it ended up being 5.0 on the 2.3 crank pattern.... i wrestled with the thought of doing this for awhile and decided to go for it. so spec aluminum flywheel and spec 3+ clutch package is going in sometime this winter... bet it dont slip anymore!!!!

oh yeah, anyone have a v8 sfi bell they want to get rid of???

Is this for your Ranger? How are you planning on adapting the hydraulic slave to a V8 bellhousing?

I have the Canfield Industries adapter plate (http://cididit.com/adaptor_plate.htm) with the Spec aluminum flywheel and King Cobra clutch on my SVO and it is the best thing I have purchased to handle the power. This setup has no problem handling 400hp.

no, this is going into the pinto. the ranger swap hasnt started yet. im not going to do that until i build the new shortblock for the pinto. thats probably the adaptor ill be using too.

caroth, how much did you have to change exhaust wise?

I installed a Holset HY35 at the same time so I built new exhaust anyway.
http://rothfam.com/svo/holset/

The exhaust was pretty easy to build, I used a stacker breaker (cheap v-band) off of the exhaust elbow on the Holset. I picked up the exhaust flange from Reeve on tuboford. As you can tell, the V8 adapter is wider, so I had to change the routing of the exhaust a little bit.

hey, thanks forthe pics. it seems like every winter my car ends up in pieces over what i think is simple upgrades that balloon into big projects.... wth..at least the car is better every year....

nah i cut about 5 pounds off the turbine housing and weld the vband ring right to the housing.... who here doesnt like stainless heheh.

steve i know what you mean but think of it this way. your only wasting the winter. if you never had a winter you would be wasting perfectly good weather lol  f*&k i hate winter!!! wait.... i have turbo 4 wheel drive... i retract earlier statement.

I have two questions if you don't mind. Is that a bob header, and you used a v8 to 2.3 adapter for a auto or a V8 T5. If an auto which one. I've been thinking of keeping the m50d and doing the jess setup until transmission blows and then putting in a C4 or AODE or something. C4 is probubly easier to find a small bellhousing though. Also I know where there is a pinto C4 sitting until someone buys it but guy said he doesn't have any buyers yet. Problem is I don't have the money for it.

I am assuming you are asking me the questions:

It is a 40bob header, it is well made and has yet to crack or warp. This header is on the SVO and is running E85 full time. EGTs should be cooler from the e85 burn, but since the flame is slower, the inside of the header could/should be exposed to more flame which could "burn up" the header. No sign of any fatigue on the header, it seems to be holding up well!

The adapter plate is from Canfield Industries (http://cididit.com/adaptor_plate.htm) and adapts a V8 T5 bellhousing the the 2.3 block. I have heard that Canfield has sold the plate to guys wanting to run a power glide or AOD and they have not heard back of any problems. I suspect everything should bolt up like the V8 flywheel (2.3 bolt pattern required in the flywheel/flexplate) so the only issue is the converter nub into the crank. The solid bronze bushing should work with the V8 converter, it only locates the converter to the crank.

The quality of the Canfield adpater is top notch.

Totally Confused
