:didimiss:
Or, how I managed to bite off ALOT more than I thought.
Well, as most of you know from my intro, my old faithful BII has laid down and I am NOT going to be replacing or rebuilding the 2.8. I thought about it, my wife offered actually helpful input (how many of guys can HONESTLY say that? :moon: ). We have decided to go turbo, and on a Lima. I will be posting up pictures of the multitude of parts that I am starting to drag home from work as the pile starts. I gotta wait until the end of the week, when the parts are "deducted" from my pay.

Sweet, BroncoII Turbo, #2
Should be an interesting build.

Yeah. I am looking forward to driving it. The only thing that I am concerned over (slightly) is the short wheelbase V. torque thing. I have seen alot of the videos on Youtube, and I see ALOT of tailslides on take off. Oh, well. I guess that like anything else, I'll just have to get used to it, and learn to use it. (ought'a make lane changes ALOT more fun, going sideways while in motion...)

Nice to see a brand that I recognize.

Is this a "pulse turbo"?

I am thinking that the outlet pipe NEEDS to turn down, like 90*, NOW.
Okay, I have been looking this thing over, and so far, NO AR numbers, no CM markings, nothing. Anybody want to take a guess at the numbers? I DO know that it is from a Banks Stinger kit from a 6.2 GM Diesel Suburban, non I/C. Other than that, nothing.

The "inlet" is 2.75" in dia., while the section that leads to the I/C is 2". The down pipe is 2.75" also. This is for those that want to try their hand at figuring out the compressor "size", turbine also. I looking for the info myself, also. Let's see what we come up...

Okay. IF I did the math right, my turbo has a 69.8 CM inlet. Not sure of the outlet, as I haven't pulled the down pipe stub off yet. I am looking for info on whether or not this turbo is going to be right for the 2.3.

I would guess that is somewhere inbetween a Hx40 and Hx50 or closer to a 40. Not to big if your looking at big power and paired header. A good find none the less. I was at this diesel shop the other day and they had a garrett turbo that was an upgrade for a cummins and It looked pretty tempting. I have been wondering about precision turbos myself. They are priced pretty well.

So, this thing is most likely NOT going to be the way to go for a 4wd, then. At least for mostly street. Damn. I guess that the Porsche944 is going to get robbed next, then. (Or, maybe, the RX7 that came in today....Hmmmm.....).

Im not for sure on this but banks makes upgraded turbos and Stock turbo is what you need. A 12cm hx35 or the 9cm Hy35 would be my suggestion. They are easy to come by and last a long time. Got mine for 350.00 with no play at all and not all rusted out. They can be found for much cheaper though. I would keep it and maybe you could trade for two holsets. I would imagine that thing cost twice as much as a new holset.

So, you think that maybe it would "trade", then if I posted it in the for sale/trade forum?

I would clean it up first but yes. That would be good for someone wanting a weekend warrior I think. Nice thing with the holsets is they have all the power anyone could want with a daily driver. Check to see if the turbine spins freely, that the blades don't hit the housing and that there is no in and out play and little side to side play. I read this as a guide for used turbos somewhere. Give it a day or so and someone else should chip in on this. Do you know what this came off of.

I planned on cleaning it up in the AM,for something to do. I have spun the wheel, and it spins freely, there is no side/side that I could feel, and a "little" endplay. The engine that this came off of was a runner, but noone ever wanted it, so the Sub. was crushed. The diesel was a 6.2. I think that the age of the Sub was early 90's.

Maybe look at something like this. I believe they can go up to 17psi. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-2-3-Turbo-and-Intercooler_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2a0384a27eQ QitemZ180447650430QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPart sQ5fAccessories

there was another one on there that was a little bit more but guy was saying its in real good shape. Another thing is you can use a E6 manifold which is cheaper too. Jess was selling some headers on ebay that are for these too. off and on there are always things on ebay though.

Well, the engines are coming home on Saturday. Yea! 2 of the later model intake motors have a "plug" in the dizzy hole, but NO wires on the plug. This should make it easier to turbo one of them, right? Or is the coil pak set-up really THAT much better? I also have a chance to get some higher rated injetcors from one of the boss' sons, who races his old 5.slow on the 1/4 mile. Any thoughts on what color the inj. tops should be? He has yellow, brown, black, green, and some blue ones.

Coil pack is the way to go. More wires, less hassle, especially with tuning.
On injectors idk, can you find out the actual size of them?
And have you found out anything on the turbo?
The old 6.2's had borg warner turbo's i forgot the size(local Jkyd had one). But seeins how that's a Banks, its prolly rather large, maybe a lil too big for what your intending on doing with the truck. I can take it off your hands if its too heavy;)

The injectors I'm looking at are pink tops. But I know sometimes tops can be a guide but not always. Green tops are usaully 42lb. yellow 19lbs. I would get the part numbers off them and look them up take one of each color home if he will let you.

they are high impedance inj colors remember that. the LA* use low which isnt a problem. yellow i think are the stock 19#. id have to look up the rest.
