Well this build will be alittle slow. don't have alot of extra cash just laying around. I picked up a 85 2.3T complete from harness, small vam, turbo, etc for $250. Got a ecm from my buddy from his old turbocoupe when he swapped to la3. and got the volvo intercooler back from my buddy. Was goin to try and do the obdII deal but i just don't feel there has been enough research done into it and i know if i try the truck will never run again. So goin to run obdI. A 255hp pump pre98 fuel lines to have the return. Goin freshen up the 2.3 and leave the small vam and ecm on it just to get it up and running. so far I have about $1k in the truck including the price of the truck. Hoping to keep it under $1500
Heres some pics of it.

ok so you have a 98 with obd2 an your going to convert back to obd1? you dont think theres enough research if it will run again?
i think you really need to search that all out again then, but g/l with your build.

i''ve spent alot of time looking into it. and for what i want out of it its not worth it. i know jess is running it and a few others. but there's not the support of the la3 out there. but i do plan on keeping the 2.5 and obdII around for when i want to step it up. Just looking for a nice dd for now. nothing to powerful. and for what it would cost me to run obdII and a tuner I would just go the 5.0 route.

i dont see anything wrong with the way your doing it,... just dont hack up your existing harness. mount the TC ecu just like the stocker and string it together that way. then if you ever change your mind you'l have every thing you need.

yeah thats my plan. goin take out the ranger harness and put in the tbird one. its complete and in good shape and then i don't have to hack up ranger harness. I got more important (bigger money pit) projects to work on then the ranger. Like the 73 duster thats going to be powered by a 5.9efi with overdrive. or the 69 satellite. or my r6 that now needs a stator. too many projects.

sorry but im with fordnut on this one.
Not biased just cuz im running 2.5 w/obd2, just i dont feel like all that work is necesary for what i see wont be a gain.
But that's what makes this site great, everyones different and does different things.
Goodluck with your build:thumbsup:

well major reason is im a cheapa$$ and this ain't getting build for speed. mostly what i could scrounge up for cheap to free. if i want to go fast i'll hope on my bike. and my time is alot cheaper than a tuning system for obdII. :cheers2: Hopefully going pull the motor and harness in the next few days. and get the tbird harness in.
