7.5 ranger splines?

Does anyone know if the 7.5 has 28 splines. Mine is a 92. Also is there any thing different about newer 7.5 than older ones. Thanks.

all 7.5s were 28 spline, as were alot of the 8.8s.The only difference in the newer 7.5s, is a slight jump in width and also 10" drums instead of the 9" on the earlier axles.I installed a '99 7.5 in my '90 and it all bolted up.I did notice it was about 2" wider, which i think looks better than the "sunk in" look of the stock axle.

Isn't the 8.8 even wider than the 7.5? jw

I read that the axles are the same length within the same years.

ranger rear are the same width. its when you use the explorer rear on the ranger its wider
