When i swapped heads this weekend i decided i would make something to block off the EGR on the upper intake manifold. I know alot of people make up some sort of plate and bolt it on. I figured it was just easier to Tap the hole for a 1/2" bolt, the hole doesn't need to be drilled it is already almost the perfect size. I wrapped some teflon tape around the bolt and presto.
I'll get some pics up tonight.

i know this is a dumb question, but why does the egr need to be blocked off? and what is it and whats it do?

Using the tube header like the one Jess sells requires you to disable the egr system because there is no port for an egr pipe. Egr is used to cool combustion temperatures to controll emmisions of nitrogen oxides. As it turns out so does lowering compression, so it works out somewhat neutral for us. The egr system pipes gas from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold and the egr valve is the gate that the computer opens to allow flow at light to medium throttle cruise. There should be no flow at idle or heavy throttle. If you just remove the valve there will be a vacuum leak. I still have the valve but I just leave it disconnected and tuned tha pcm to ignore it. Hope this helps
