i had to straighten out a 96 tahoe that a tree fell on.The tree fell lengthwise from back to front though. We tossed some plywood on the floor, and used the trans jack to bring the roof back up.It came out damn near perfect, but we lost the two rear side windows in the process. Its a gamble, but if it was free, whatcha got to lose :D

Gut it, and throw all the powertrain in a Ranger body of the same year. Should be fun

I've always daydreamed about doing exactly that! Except I'd do a manual swap at the same time and maybe a remote mount turbo. 5.0 turbo awd :D

you could swap a 98 reg cab short bed ranger body onto the mountaineer frame... same wheelbase...(i think i read it on TRS) i pondered the same myself... would be cool to have an AWD v8 ranger... would suck the fuel though...

chop the roof off an explorer an chop an section the new part in.
i bought a s10 years ago cheap cause a kid tried to do the roofless lowered s10 thingy. he had blocks of wood under the floor trying to keep the rest of the cab from folding.
i was able to bring it back into line an welded a roof back onto it an turned around an sold it.
so it can be done. even spike tv muscle car did a roof on the buick project car.
