SO I want my truck a little lower than it is right now.
Currently I have a djm 3/4 drop (I-beams and a flip kit)
SO for the front Ill throw on a set of belltech 2" drop springs for a total of 6"...
How do I get a little more drop in the back? Is the only way to relocate the rear leaf bracket up a couple inches? Hopefully there is a slightly less invasive way to get a couple inches.....

Use belltech lift/drop blocks they come with new u bolts they go between the axle and leafs cost like 30bucks comes in sizes of 1" and up

x2 shackle flip.
save the money you would have spent on a set of blocks and get a c-notch instead

agreed on the c notch, my axle knows my frame very well

The shackle flip looks pretty simple.... not sure I wanna notch the frame though. Is that necessary?

i think it depends on how worn out your springs are, you might be able to get away without it, but if yours are anything like mine you will need it.
i have the flip kit with flipped shackles and im tuckin about an inch of tire and my axle is an inch to an inch and a half from the frame, im putting my notch in soon ill have pictures in my build thread

Ok cool. I think im gonna do this.

RavenRanger gave me a link to a bolt in notch kit. It looks pretty sweet and makes notching very easy. My only concern with notching is frame integrity.... Am I gonna lose any, and what should I do to fix that? Im guessing In gonna weld in some 3/8 steel plates to re-box in the frame after I cut it out

Never mind. I found a good pic of the bolt in notches on a truck, and I see how they work.... THanks
3" Beams + 2" Belltech coils = 6" Drop ?????
Some sorta new math I wasn't taught in College Calc class?
Anyway, I agree, shackle flip is the cheapest/easiest way to get more drop in the rear. And yes, I say the c-notch is absolutely needed with anything more than a flip kit. When I had my expo axle swapped with flipped shackles I was 1/4" away from the bump stops. Not a fun ride really.
OHHH, wait, your sig says you have a 4 inch front drop. What'd you do for the extra inch?

No youre right, my sig is wrong.... I dont know why I have 4/5. To tell you the truth, i've never noticed that it was wrong until you mentioned something.
Ya, 3+2=6 for unusually large values of 2...... JK thats a little engineering humor. Dumb I know, but hey im an electrical engineer, and you cant spell geek without EE!!! Ill change my sig, and I guess I was wanting a 5/6 drop out of the whole truck, Thanks for correcting my childish math mistake. I think ill go sit and cry now.:banghead:
LOL, I was just trying to figure out if you discovered hyperspace travel or something and were silently hinting at it :)

HAHA
So youre truck is pretty low, 5/7 I think I read? and I like the look it has. Ever have probs hitting something with it that low? I know the first thing to go seems to be the trans xmember. Mine is still safe for now (knock on wood) and I've never hit anything yet but 2 inches is a substantial amount of clearance loss for a static drop
Yes, it was 5/7 at one time (a little lower in front than that, the AIM coils netted me more than the 2" I wanted). I rubbed the inner fenders hard on hard bumps, but daily driving was OK.
I royally tweaked my tranny member by backing over a fill cover at a gas station, but other than that I never hit it on anything, speed bumps included. Now, the front valance was another story, I caught that on curbs all the time.
I'm putting it back together as a 5/7 drop using Belltech coils up front this time. Gonna raise the inner fender wells by 2 or 3 inches to gain more than enough clearance and run a suicide doors xmember.

Mines 6/5 because same my 2" came out to be 3 it's weird, I hit inner fenders on big bumps also and I dented my tranny member on a peice of rebar sticking out of a parking lot
As well, what size tire/wheel you running. I run a 245/45/17 for now which is around 25.5" tall. Go taller and you'll have a bit more clearance, but scrub inner fenders in the front more.

my 235-55-17 rub bad with my "5" inch drop

the shackle flip is easy if u have an air hammer and a cut off wheel droped my truck to about stock after i but the Deaver springs in

Im probably gonna wait on droppin it that low then. right now its my dd, and the roads in toledo are terrible! I'd be scrapin fenders all the time then. Ill probably end up cuttin em out to make up for it when I graduate and the truck goes in the shop to be restored to pristine condition (althought its pretty close right now, as there is ZERO rust anywhere on her.)

My truck has between a 5" - 5.5" drop in the front and with 245/45/17's it rarely ever hit the inner fender wells except if you were turning at full lock on the steering column. I now have a 55 series tire up front and they rub all the time.
Best thing I did to fix most of my rubbing issues was to slip coil boosters in between the coils on the front springs since i cut my DJM coils. I'd probably invest in Belltech coils, but I put in a lot of hours getting rid of the dreaded "ranger lean." Ride quality improved also, the front end doesn't bounce at all really.

SO my truck rides rough in the back. I never really knew why but I put it up on the lift this week, and the axle is only about 1/2 in from the bumpstops!! They are the stock stops, and they are about 3" long. Can I cut them in half or should I just buy some belltech's?

i would cut the stock ones it should be fine and its free :D my bump stop right now is my pumpkin hitting the bed

OK thats what I was thinking! HA Its quite a jolt sometimes. at least its the rubber though.

if you cut them, be sure not to cut em too short. there is a lip on the inside edge of the frame, and if you shorten the bumpstops too far, they will compress enough on a big hit that the lip can contact the axle tube.
you would be better off to just get a small bolt-in notch.
