Looking to pick up a good condition Buret (or burette) and stand to measure my combustion chambers. Let me know what all you've got, I figure i'll only need to use it once, so am looking to pick it up used (or borrow it if that's possible).

Thanks

Umm, i thought about those. My mom works at a doctors office and can get a few for me. I never thought of those as accurate enough for use to measure cc's. I'll try it out though just for giggles....

I can order you one, with the stand and everything about $200

When I did it I had my sister just get me a huge syringe and did it that way, and as far as being accurate, I think Medical supplies would be accurate.

all you really need is a 100cc burett. you can get them in plastic for cheap from a sicence store.
i used 1 with tranny fluid an a small peice of plexti glass to cc my chambers.

Thanks guys for the ideas.

I scored some 25ml syringes and a 5ml syringe so i can quickly measure out the cc from my mom's work. If that is too hard, I've found some cheap plastic burets online.

Also have some small pieces of plexiglass so I think i'm going to see how well this works out. HOpefully this weekend my head will be all done...too hot this week to get work done on it...

So i have my head disasembled, and I was thinking I would install some spark plugs and then coat my valves with some wheel bearing grease to seal them and then do the CC syringe trick. Is this what you guys are doing, or are the springs holding the valves tight.

I'm going to basically try the same thing tonight JFive. I'll let you know how it goes. Might have to install the springs to get the valves to seal...not sure if gravity will hold them tight enough....

find som light inner springs that you can install with your fingers

if they do not seal like that, then the valve job is not right

ya if you have a good seat cut you prob wont need a spring in there at all.
i use vasaline on the plexi glass. just dont tell my wife thats where the jar want to lol
you just want a thin line of it on the head to seal up the plate.just try an not to get it in the chamber.

When I cc'd my chambers I lapped all the valve seats beforehand. I used a little vasoline on the seat of the valves and put them in, make sure you press them in firmly and give them a little spin to help get out any excess vasoline between the seats. Put your spark plugs in also. I put the head on an angle and put a bead of vasoline around the chamber and then layed a piece of plexi-glass over the chamber. Make sure you don't get any vasoline in the chamber itself or you'll screw up the measurement. Drill a hole in the plexiglass and put the hole at the very top edge of the chamber (if you have the head on an angle). I used water and it worked very well for me.

It's very easy, just time consuming.
