You must use the spark plugs for the head you run. If you run a dual plug head run the spark plugs that it requires. I'm not sure but I was thinking there is a difference from SVO plugs to the late DP ranger plugs.

Stay away from platinum plugs, the tips break off.

I will pull a plug when I get a chance. I am running 2 ranges cooler and copper in a 97 dual plug head. I have a friend at a ford dealer who has been arround long enough to read back through the listings and decipher part nunbers to get me the correct plugs as I wanted them.

Most people I talk to use non platinum plugs in a cooler heat ranger.

I think it has to do with the robust design of copper plugs. It doesn't take much force to break off the iridium tip of the new gm plugs. I would be a little worried about having a little knock in my motor and damaging one of the plugs.
