I currently have a 2.3 dtec and I am looking to swap the A4LD with a manual transmission. I've been looking around and couldn't really find a good answer for what I need for the swap. I know I will need the transmission (dur). Do I need the M5OD or the 55re or whatever? I am wondering what kind, do I need a new bell housing and starter?

Any help would be helpful (dur again).

Thanks in advance.
:thanks:

P.S. I never new amazon carried so much car things.

What ever year model rangers came with that exact engine find one with a manual and youll need the tranny,flywheel,clutch,brake/clutch pedle assembly,if its hydrolic or cable youll need all that to. And maybe the cross member. And youll have to rewire your reverse light connector to work and take your park/netral safty switch from the automatic and wire it into the clutch pedel switch on the manual also.

Wikipedia says M5OD-R1, guess I am going to go with that. Anyone see anything missing?

they still use the M50D-R1, thats crazy. guess it is a real good tranny. They usally stop using the bad ones, once they start to cost them tons of money in warranty work.

Would anyone know where to get parts from? I am having a hard time finding pedals.

I think your best bet is the junk yard, but rockauto.com has the most parts that I know of.

So, I don't need a new PCM or wiring harness?

The closest I've come to actually getting the parts has been this:

need to call up the junk yard tomorrow.

is it you dont want an auto, or that your afraid it wont hold up?

the 4r55 and the 5r55 are good transmissions, fully programable shift point and line pressure. jess is using one with a good tune.

I am afraid that it won't hold up. I don't want to have it crap out and then have to get a manual, I would rather just get it all in and have it work instead of breaking things part by part. Know what I mean?

Am I missing it?! I can't find anything about pedals or clutch pedal or anything! Is there another word for them?

I'd look up the trans on the car-part.com, then call those that have the trans and ask about the pedals. If the trans is there, they've had/have the truck it came from..

Man do I feel dumb... The bell housing is part of the transmission itself. Doh... I found one for 850.00 + 75.00 for pedals, does this sound close to right? 1093.33 Shipped.
