the j3 works on eec-iv and eec-v ecus

you can change a lot of values on the ecu to whatever you want

i use the j3 chip to tune my LA3 and use binary editor as my software, which jess provided the link to

its pretty easy to figure out

i got the ship and burner from moates.net

is the LA2 better to use than my factory 94 ranger ecu? or just chip what ive got and it'll do the same thing w/out having to re-pin the harness?

I can do it with a SCT chip. Large injectors MAF remove speed limiter ect...

man ive been tryin to figure tunning options for my la3 since i got my truck. i guess i jus keep posting in the wrong spots lol. so my question what all do i need to do this j3 chip and where do i get it? and how exactly do u tune it. i mean i got a little programing history but that was with robots and cnc machine stuff. so the binary stuff kinda got me lost. so if some one could give me a list of what i need to do the j3 chip and where i can buy it that be awesome... my babys getting a fresh new paint job by the end of january. and then after that tunning is my next goal so any help would make my day

Michael,

Did you ever get answers to your question of tuning your LA3? I have looked into it for a long time, just reading here and there, nothing too in depth. The Moates site mentioned earlier in this thread was probably your best bet, if you haven't gotten it figured out yet.

They have alot of information on their site, my head hurts after being on it too long...

here is a tutorial starting from the basics:

EDIT: Whoops, my bad, I thought the last post was Jan of 2011, not 2010! I guess I am good at diggin' up old threads huh?!

Its all good. In the long run, we all figured out that there are plenty of tuning options for OBD I fords. Some are actually pretty cheap. I forgot where that link to how to clean the computer was.
