I finally got my turbo apart today, and I have a cracking issue. A bunch of cracks in the wastegate area, and a very large crack where the inlet meets the main housing. This crack goes all the way into the scroll.
I'm going to see if I can get it welded up, but it looks very unlikely.
Anybody have anything?

Is it a stock turbo?

Yessir! It's dead stock. And for that matter, where on earth do I find a rebuild kit for it? I've heard rumors that the ebay kits are total crap, and I should aviod them like the plague.
Here's what I read.

Is this the kit I need? It's a stock T3, no hybrid here!

I'm pretty sure it's the 4 piece carbon seal, am I correct?

sorry i missed this one. the cracks around the internal gate port can be welded. its not that big of a deal either way. they all crack. if your going to be running an external wastegate have someone plug weld the internal port shut. small piece of copper plate and a mig welder with carbon wire. take about 12 seconds.

No external wastegate needed here, but it actually has a crack in the wall between the inlet and the end of the volute. That was the crack I was concerned about. I'll see if I can get a picture up here and that may explain it better.

I know where your talking about, I have seen it on turbos i've disassembled. I would either get someone who can weld cast to fix it for you or just buy a new housing. A new turbo is also a option but a expensive one.
