i'm having a hell of a time figuring out exactly what to do for a return line. my set up is a bob's 3rd gen log and a wh1c. the stock line sure as hell won't work, and when i try to use something so simple as a rubber line, the placement of everything causes an uphill part of the hose.... that just won't do. i've got a ton of smoke coming out my exhaust right now, and everything is pointing to that line. so, did anyone else run into a similar situation? if so, how did you go about solving the issue? did you build a line, were you able to make a rubber hose work, or did you end up tapping the pan? pictures make great references. :D

Make one. That way You know it'll fit and run the right direction.

I, as well as many others on this forum, used a stainless steel flexible gas line for an oil return line. They can be had on the cheap, I payed $10 and some odd change for mine, and work very well. I've never heard of a complaint about them, and so far mine has survived quite a few rips up and down the road. :D
You can find them at just about any local hardware store, I got mine from Home Depot.
Here's a few pics installed, the one I bought was about 12" long.

i think stinger sells one that has a sharp 90 right out the bottom of the turbo. ive seen them on ebay too. rubber doesnt hold up with oil and heat. also just so you know you can angle the bearing housing up to 15 degrees to help with oil drains. it doesnt have to be straight up and down

that might work, but the difference between yours and mine is that you're using a t3, and i'm using a wh1c. the exhaust housing of the holset is much larger, and the log header that i'm using moves the turbo a couple inches forward. so the distance from the drain fitting on the turbo and the fitting on the block is much different, and at a different angle than yours. i may just end up tapping the pan if i can't figure this out soon. at least that way, i can put it where i know it'll work.:cheers2:

on the stainless flexy line, if you slide a rod down the center of the tube first and compress the length of the line. you can turn a 12 inch line into a 6 inch line. then hook up one end to the turbo and the other to the block. stretch as needed. if you do it this way you get maximum slope at the shortest distance. dont loop the line around, the longer the line the longer it takes to gravity the oil back to the pan.

i know it won't last more than a few weeks or so, but i just needed to throw something on it to get it running. i was looking in the how to section, and found this:

well, crap! i went out and spent $70 on AN fittings to try and make this work. i got a male/male 1/2" adapter coming out of the block. from that, i have a 45* elbow. off the turbo, i got the flange that has the 1/2" male end coming off it. then i got a 90* elbow. it would all work great, except that where the fitting threads onto the flange is too wide to clear between the compressor housing and the center section. looks like i'll be returning both elbows, keeping the flange and the adapter coming out of the block, and heading to home depot to try this gas line thing. i'm starting to get really irritated with this damn line.
