i just picked up this 1987 ranger swb std cab with a 2.9 and shot auto tranny(good enough to drive it 37 miles home).i will be pulling the motor and dropping in a 1984 svo 2.3 turbo with a t5 tranny.what is really sweet i got the rebuilt motor(complete) for $450 and the ranger for $280...not bad if you ask me.here it is in my garage...will post better pics later

a little update..
started to clean it up and tear it down.....

starting with a 1987 ford ranger with a 2.9 v6 and auto tranny.has ac,heat,ps and brakes.i would love to keep all that.i plan on swapping in my 1984 2.3 turbo out of a svo mustang with a t5 tranny.i have a LA3 comp out of a 88 tbird tc.the engine has been warmed over alittle.this swap will start soon and i will post all progress as it happens.here is some pics of it now.....

got some panels off so i can fix some rust issues.nothing major just some holes.all easy fixes.after i weld in new metal it will all be good.and this is it as far as rust goes on this truck.very surprised with it being a florida truck close to the beach.

Not bad man. I would try to get an auto though to take advantage of that factory floor shift. I know a guy that built about the same year ranger and he put a 351W in and used the factory floor shifter for a C4 or C6. I was gonna buy it from him for 1000, with a non running 302 but everything else.

i was thinking about keeping it auto..i know where lots of tc autos are.it would be easier that way and the shifter would not be to far back..lol.....and it will look stock...hhhmmm,i might really have to do that.the ultimate sleeper.even keep the outside looking stock.thanks for the input.

well the ranger is gone...replaced it with a mazda b2200 and doing the 2.3 turbo swap to it.lighter truck...its the 1987 std cab swb small truck,,,not ranger based....it should haul *** when done.
