As I'm starting to gather up everything for my build, I have been looking at getting a hurst shifter for my M50D.

This is the shifter I plan on getting:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HUU-3915020/

And this is the button I plan on getting: http://www.amazon.com/Hurst-1630049-Competition-Knob-Switch/dp/B000CMKGIW

Will these work together? I don't see why not, but I would like to ask before.

Reason I'm doing this is I plan on doing a 2-step set-up.

I believe hurst makes a button ball for their shifter.

I took a spare shift lever, and cut it down and changed the angle of it, and had to eliminate the rubber section at the bottom to do it. I like the position and everything of it, made the pattern a little tighter (took about an inch or so out of the total length), but yeah, it is noisy. I know I need the upper pivot ball socket for mine, so that makes the shifter a lot sloppier, too. May not be AS noisy with that in there, but it still is loud.

Is it the switch that rattles or is it just the sound of the trans coming up thru that makes it noisy?

You give me an idea of shortening the stock shifter to make it more like a car shifter. My ball falls off as it is, so couldn't hurt to mess with it. I have a spare if it doesn't work.

i got a factory shifter that i cut down and welded a nut on to. i orderd a real 8 ball. tapped it out. and put a bolt threw them . my shifter is 11 in tall. sounds stupid to u guys but i got buckets in my ranger from a toyota that are 7 in from the floor inj the back. everythinjg works perfect and it feels right where it should be.
