Hey guys, I am a long time lurker, but first time poster...

After reading through this forum and (much to my wife’s chagrin) I have taken on another project.

I am starting with a 1993 4x4 Ranger with the 3.0L V6

The plan, swap the 3.0L with a 2.3T out of an 88 TC... I want to keep it 4x4, using the stock transfer case, what transmission will bolt up to both the 2.3T and the original transfer case?

Thanks guys!

FYI, I am not planing to make this a huge HP engine... hence why I am hoping to use the stock transfercase.

what tranny is in it now?

factory ranger M5 can be found that will fit between the 2.3 and stock T-case. they are somewhat difficult to find, would probly be easier to build one from two trannys(2.3 2wd and any v6 4wd)

T5 should be able to be made to work fairly easily as well mixin and matching parts.

I have the stock transmission from the V6...

mmm Interesting, I took a look at bolt pattern, It dosen't look like the bolt pattern will match up from the V6 case to the 2.3T ...

Did ford make a transmission for a 2.3 that was 4x4? maybe I should look for one of those...
