I'm going to dig in and confirm, but I think the fuel pump has let me down. I went to the dyno today, and after I got strapped in and ready to go, it wouldnt start. No fuel at the rail at all. i pushed the schrader valve to check and there was nothing at all. Relays all worked, inertia switch wasnt tripped, and i didn't hear the pump working, so i have to dig into the tank soon.

So if its worst case scenario, wheres the best place to find a walbro (sp?) pump, or good quality 255lph pump?

Also, does the ranger pump interchange with anything else? For example does amustang pump fit, or a lightning pump?

Thanks

i bought a fuel pump from eBay that jess recommended i think we cold use a piggy back pump if we needed to so we don't have to jump into the tank I've put one on a 95 cobra that we put a vortec charger on and it worked pretty good

heres a fuuny story.about a month ago i got in my 95 2.3L after not driving it for 9 months. i had to jumpstart it. but it wouldn't turn over so i took the fuel filter off turn the key on ond off to check fuel press. there wasn't and fuel but i couldn't tell if the pump was kicking on so i replaced the relay and still nothing. so i came to the same outcome you have bad pump. i went to stick a hose in the tank to suck out the fuel and there was no gas in the tank. the gas gauge was stuck on 1/4 tank and there was no gas left. i was pissed i took me like 30 min to figure out i was out of gas switching relays around pulling fuel filter. sometimes i over think the hell out stuff.

i got a new 255lph ebay fuel pump from europe for 60.00 for my 97 2.3L. factory tested b4 shipped. when i got it it smelled of gas. it was a deal. i think a walblo is like 120.00.

An 87-93 one for a mustang will fit in a 1999?

It hadn't even crossed my mind that I may be out of gas............. because an hour and a half before then, I put in 16 gallons worth!

i dont think your out of gas then. this thread just reminded me of my "bad pump" story. just remember those gas gauges lie. more than likely it your pump... but pumps have a tendency of going slow not all at once. but then again it could go eitherway

I was having problems with my gas gauge as well. Lately I was having problems idling sometimes, then sometimes it was fine. I'm thinking maybe now it was the pump not flowing well. It got worse and worse, and before it completely went, it was having a horrible time trying to idle.

did you check all the conections first. both your gauge and your pump are going at the same time? sounds like a bad ground.

I got a look at the connections today and they all looked great. The gauge never worked since I put the new pump in the tank. I think I may have damaged the float assembly upon reinstallation. The metal wire the float was on would not stay on the lever and I had al sorts of problems with it. I also got a fuel level trouble code a while back saying the fuel level sensor was off. maybe a p0460 if i recall.

i didnt relize you had a 1999. i have a 97 with the return line.
but if im not mistakeing. if you have the single line with the in tank regulator you can still use the same walbro pumps.

I have two lines running into the tank. Not sure what they do. It is a returnless system though. Not sure, I'm hoping someone with a 1999 can confirm this for me, I don't know much about the differences or what will fit. Can a walbro be ordered for a ranger in the 255lph? There aren't a lot of aftermarket options for a ranger

Thank you for the link!! I;m still having a hell of a time getting the pump out. The plastic ring around the top of the tank is stubborn, and the quick connect on the fuel lines are being impossible! Awwwwful
