Can I purchase any SCT tuner off of Ebay or do I need to look for something specific? One is listed as being specific for GM vehicles. Can this be reprogramed for any vehicle?

you need the one made for ford vehicles... so if you find one on ebay for ford then yes..but not GM

If you find a deal on one on ebay, make sure it is unlocked. To be able to be unlocked, the previous user has to select the "return to stock feature" on it and upload that onto his vehicle before he sells it. If he doesn't, then the tuner is locked and will need to be unlocked by sct themselves I believe and I recall hearing soemthing like 150 to clear it. someone correct me if I'm wrong

I know about the locked/unlocked thing. Just wasnt sure about he GM/Ford thing. The cheaper tuners always seem to be GM.

Xcal-2, Xcal-3 and the SCT Live wire tuners are the ones that work.

The software is 300$ You can get a pretty good email tune if the SCT dealer knows there stuff. Make sure to use a 98 or newer ECU.

I thought the unlock was 150$ may have went up duno.

tune it yourself

if you plan on making changes i would rather learn how to tune than have someone else do it for me
