FINALLY, I ordered the rest (well most as I haven't ordered the GM sensors) of the major stuff to get my MS up and running.

I'll be running MSII V3.0. I still have yet to finish the board, as I got to the point of setting up the ignition, then moved to Utah, and haven't touched it since.

Tonight I plopped down another $300 for the Relay board, relay harness, Stimulator, Map Daddy MAP sensor for real time baro correction and up to 44psi lol, and the 12' wire bundle so I can make my own harness.

My intentions are rather basic, yet still super fun and easy to do.

EDIS.
Launch control and maybe flat shift.
Nitrous control (can't use launch or flat shift though at same time :frown: )
Other controls are available, I just need to make sure all my info is correct.

Megasquirt is great, it's just trying to keep all the firmware, data logging, MS versions, software etc etc all straight and sorted... which is pretty confusing at times.

Adam!!! You need to get some form of messenger. I have a **** ton of questions that I need to hash out with you about other options I'm unsure of as of yet and you're help would be great.

So far, I've had this kit for 2 years and I'm just now getting remotivated to set it all up again

I fly back the 10th of August. Then, my plan is to get the truck shipped out in the following weeks. BY then I should hopefully have the MS setup.

My dilemma comes to this though.

Do I swap the MS in with the setup I have now?
Do I wait till I redo the cab of the truck around the windsheild?
Do I swap in the Holset, Injectors, Exhaust etc etc, and THEN the MS?

I have to think long and hard about what my next steps will be. Because I NEED to fix the rust. And if I do that, then I'm tearing the whole front end apart like Gary did, which will put the truck down again for probably for a whole season. It needs fixed ASAP, but I'd like to wait till fall/winter really.

However, if I then install the MS and try to get it setup and running in the winter, that will suck because of the temperature and trying to get the engine to cold fire and run. Of which, I'm not concerned because it's a warm weather only driving truck anyhow.

Oh decisions decisions.

hey jess i dont think i have permission to add a subforum in the tune and tunning section for megasquirts. think you could put us one up there. i know when i start on mine i wouldnt mind keeping a journal. maybe make it a sticky for a later FAQ.

MS is able to handle both Low and High impedance injectors.

Who has a line on ~100pph injectors for the cheapest? High or Low doesn't matter.

only a 100#, i got 160#, anything more then about 90# your going to want low or it wont idle for crap.

I calculated that 100# injectors would be enough to supply what the HE351 can do. Which is roughly 500crank, 400wheel HP. The turbo will do more, but 100# injectors on Gas, with 80% duty cycle at full blow, will handle that much easily. So, I definately have a cushion factor larger than I'll need.

I did find some 120# injectors from Summit. Made by TrickFlow, $50 a pop. And they are low-Z.

I'll probably spring for those if I can't find anything else cheaper. And 120# would definitely get me where I want to be with zero worries about fuel starvation.

i wanted to have plenty for alky. look around on ebay i picked up mine i think for 120 for all 4.

Alky would be nice, but I'm thinking I'll stick to the giggle juice. 120# should be fine I think. Though, is there a equation or general rule of thumb on how much more you should increase the injector size for say a 150 shot?

I'll be hitting up ebay for sure. Good idea.

you ever see the fogger systems from compucar? they put a nozzle right under the injector. with the MS you can also use your injectors for fueling the nitrous i am pretty sure.

That's what I was thinking I had read. That's why I asked.

Otherwise, I have no problem running a traditional setup where fuel/nitrous is supplied by a traditional nozzle.

Now that I think about it, I'm not really sure why I'd make it difficult and use the existing injectors to supply additional fuel.

Update. MS is 99% complete.

Hopefully Adam reads that as there are two things that I am not totally sure about.

1) When setting it up for Low-Z injectors, do I HAVE to install the PWM flyback circuit? Or will just the regular flyback circuit handle them? From what I think I understand the PWM circuit is needed, but the megamanual is kinda vague.

2) Testing using the Stim and MegaViewer. When testing the inputs it MegaViewer works fine for about a minute. Then the Stim I think bleeps at me and MegaViewer warns me for a low battery. The MegaViewer screen becomes "unstable" at that point and the gauges will fluctuate radically. I checked the voltage of the battery at that point and it was showing around 8.1V, more than enough. So not sure if it's a problem with MegaViewer, or my board???

1) PWM flyback will be installed.

2) Fixed my Megatune viewer issue by adapting a 12v travel DVD player power supply to the Megasquirt. No more issues with voltage dropping out and resetting the ECU.

Megasquirt ran for 4hrs with no hickups on my bench test. I have a few things to finish up, figure out what I have to do to get the additional inputs/outputs for MS-II (I think I need the Extra code).
