View Full Version : Anyone Ever Dyno Their Trucks?

Just a question because I see a lot of people up and running with different setups at different boost levels but no one seems to have any hard numbers. I know this is a much smaller booster community than others but it seems that not many people visit the dyno out of curiosity just to see what their truck can do.

Many people say with that setup and that boost your should be at XXX hp based on other's accomplishments. Based on 1/4 times I know Jess truck is putting down some power and one or two others but does anyone else have numbers that they wouldn't mind sharing with the community?

I'm hoping to get my truck done and visit the dyno cause I'm just putting parts together and hoping that it all pays off in the end.

How bout a before and after lol? When I was in the DSM community I rann the snot out the the stock T-25 until it was pretty much completely destroyed. Wish I knew how much power and hot air it was making.

I dyno'd mine '97 pre-turbo, 104Hp/121lb at the back tires. When I get my motor rebuilt and running with my T3 ill have her done again.

Edit: I was always told general rule of thumb is 10hp for every 1lb of boost. That being said I have seen that be the case in many different builds. I'm hoping for 250-300ish at the back tires.

What's with the shaky graph? Looks odd for some reason.... what's an average price for a few pulls on the rollers? I plan on testing mine when its finished. A before would be funny at an estimated 90hp +/- I can't see spending the money to find out how sad it really is in N/A form!!

Cheapest per run I have seen is 50.00, but 70.00 seams to be the avg. I would look at renting the dyno for an hour. I can get it for 140.00 an hour here. Should be able to get at least three runs, I would think. Gonna do some dyno tunning myself when Its all put together.

If you can get down here to bozeman, Mike at Mike's Off Road will give you 3 runs for $100

I would like to see splatranger put his on the dyno. I think he could put up some good hp numbers.

i get to dyno my truck at the career center that i went to while i was a senior in high school (just last year lol) because my teacher made a deal if i ACTUALLY did put a turbo motor in my truck he would let me. proved him wrong lol. as many dyno runs as i can get in two hours yay! with about 30 spectators. lol

... I was planning to show you the result of my built Friday... but my tuner just call me to cancel the run and the last tune. I'm really impatient to put the number on my remote set-up, I know people are separate about the good and bad of the remote built(probably as much as I am). I'm really hoping to do between 200 whp and 250 whp. Since the focus guy with less power train lost than I can run between 220 to 250 on a stock internal and without intercooler at 10 psi.

So jsv, have you had a chance to get your truck tuned and on the dyno yet?

If they don't pass a federal budget by Saturday maybe I'll be able finish my truck and get it on the dyno sooner than I planned!

You probably wrote it in slang so even I translation program wouldn't recognize it properly!! I'm guessing its in French?

I plan to get mine dyno'd this summer. The first time I got it tuned it dyno'd at 90hp... I was pissed. Something was obviously wrong though. Im gonna do it this summer after a few adjustments to the motor.

Well yep it's french, you could try with the translation program to see what it says, but it probably won't recognize half of what I wrote.

Would probably sound something like that on google:

Debile how funny the English who understands that slab s'kon worse haha yes I said her see her on video or even live. You had not a cross by chance? Me trying the world to go riding at XTown.

Nice translation lol

i dont know of many dynos around here, but my college performance shop does have a dyno, they do a dyno day every year for people attending the college. the high performance teacher has a twin turbo corvette making over 850 to the wheels, so i hope he puts his up there also. lol

but once i get my truck back together, ill dyno it. i want to get my head done first, but idk if thats gonna happen. lol. running stock head for now. lol

True, even french from France do not understand half of what we say. lol

And i'll also go dyno mine as soon as it's running good, and maybe go have it make a little tune while I'm there but I think Jess should be good enought to give a good tune for it.

Look for someone doing a dyno day. I can get on one for $45 and get three pulls!

beluga420

OK, actually, I can't wait till this summer, I will try to be pushing 15 psi on my own tune and see how it goes, anything over this I will be going to get a proffesionnal fine tune it on a dyno, I have no idea how much hp and how much max boost I will be able to run with my current setup, if I'm at 300 whp with 15 lbs I would be really happy.

What you guys think? One thing is sure, this truck will see a dyno and you guys the dyno sheet this summer.

15psi isn't really where the HY shines but it should get you in the ballpark. Keep us updated! My GSX is coming along and I'm using a 7-bladed HX35 on that.

beluga, with the 9:1 compression, your max boost will be limited, until you get the meth injection you mentioned. then you can probably run 25+psi if you desire. your injectors will let you get to about 420+hp to the tires so.....

Agent's right, holset's are most efficient over 20psi, with most of their wastegates set to a little higher.

im gonna be dynoing the new engine at school this session, that is if i build it before then haha, but seriously it will be on a dyno and results shared with you guys

I think the 9:1 compression is gonna really help him. Its a little harder to spool a holset, so with the extra compression he should be able to get a better spool, and I agree get the snow methanol kit or what ever before you go, or run E85/E98, or at least run half and half 112 and 92 to be safe if you decide to push it up to 20psi and up. There are guys out there running 11:1 with 40psi but then again they run straight methanol. LOL

beluga420
02-15-2012, 04:34 PM
E85 isn't available in quebec :(

Not sure I will have the budget to get a water/meth kit this summer, but I will sure try to get one, the snow kit is tempting, at 420$.. MMHhhhh I will see how much taxes I have to pay to government with my business then well see. :)

I think the weakest spot of my truck is the late dp head. You think it will be able to handle 400+ whp?

You could build your own kit and save some $$. http://www.turbomirage.com/water-alcohol-injection-parts-list.html
