autocross with the ranger

This will be my thread for all my autocross videos

the autocross club here at school held an event today, did decent for being in a truck, but i was fighting with my throttle cable falling off its ghetto mount.
ive got more videos but photobucket is down and the internet is sucking so your gonna have to deal with facebook, first is my feeler run, second one you can hear at the end that i have no throttle

So what was wrong?

in the 4th pic there is a cone i hit with the rear end that is upside down but it looks like it belongs there, i thought it was kind of funny, and i really cant find what was wrong in the 8th pic

I like how i can look back at the old videos and the new ones i just posted and seeing hom much the truck has improved. still not great but its definately better

Yeah the welded rear seems to handle the run fine!

yeah its holding up, i still want an 8.8 though, the b2 rear sway bar helps too, way less body roll

Picture 7 and 8 look like they are 1/2 a sec off so maybe because you hit another cone in the 8th picture? That is my only guess.

Why stock wheels out back? Sand on the track makes for some great traction I bet? What shocks are you using?

that was right after i put in the new rear end and never got around to swaping, the dirt runs down off the hill and yes it is quite slick.
i have pro comp toxic in front and napas in the rear

actually that one kept confusing me, it was actually for the end but you had to go by it at the start on the wrong side, really dumb. i wish i could come out but my budget wont allow it and i dont trust the truck to make it, it really only runs decent when i beat it. and yes we do have a tiny lot

So, having never run an autoX. What do the cones mean? Do the down'd cones point to where you enter them at? Cause I'm not gonna lie, it looks confusing as phuk to know where you are going when watching the vids. I'm sure it's different from the drivers seat though.

I think I'd like to get into this when the truck is put back together.

Yeah, those down cones are pointers. They mean you should be on the opposite side of the upright cone.
Videos are very deceiving of the nature of autocross. In car is better IMO, but its still very different vs. actually being there.

its open downpipe cause i cant seem to afford a real exhaust and cant keep the ghetto one on haha, and yes it is easy to drift, a welded diff and the small turbo will do that haha

Yes videos do make it look very confusing, it makes much more sence in person. it is fun but the ranger front suspension makes it hard to be competitive im usually a few seconds behind the good cars
