So today I got **** lucky haha...
A good car buddy of mine was looking for a Nintendo DS of any sort. Well I just happened to have a DS Lite. He was wanting one soo obad and they are currently sold out EVERYWHERE around here.

SOOO I told him, I'd sell or trade. He asked trade for what? I got thinking. Car guy...TURBO! Asked him if he had any turbos layin around or knew of any that he could get.

Instantly one came to mind. He asked me if it would work..of course I said yes hahaha
He made a phone call and got me this:

MAZDA 626, MX6 88-92 2.2L IHI RHB52W
Which the guy was asking $220 for ... HAHA who knows how much my buddy paid but it's mine!!

Got the turbo and intercooler bit of downpipe..everything for trade for a Nintendo DS Lite with 3 games and a carry case I paid $75 for.

I think its a pretty good start :woohoo:

Tryin to figure out all the parts in real life now compaired to a picture / diagram on the computer haha.

Stats on turbo:
8-92 MX6 GT Stock Turbo & Intercooler. Approx 55,000KM on them.

NO shaft play (hope not at 55k) was taken out due to upgrade!! So its MINT

I believe thats a water and oil cooled turbo. Not a problem.Just T off the heater hoses.Seems like a deal to me.I think there's a waste gate but i can't see the exhaust side of the turbo.

Unfortunately no, I thought it was going to be but turned out its not.. So I am needing to find an adapter plate as I still plan on buying the header from you so I can upgrade later on.

since its not the right flange, I will suggest selling what you have to buy a stock IHI or the bigger stock T3. I think you'd be happier in the end. I saw a compressor map for an MX6 turbo and was not impressed with its characteristics, to me it didn't look like it was well suited for our 2.3. This was a couple years ago so I'm going solely off memory.

It will however get you going and running no problem.

Here's an up to date thread about this specific turbo with maps etc:

http://www.mx6.com/forums/showthread.php?goto=lastpost&t=140946

I've been thinking the same thing. My ranger now NA starts getting good torque at 3500-4000 range. By the maps this guy made up this turbo almost hits the choke line at 4500-5000rpm. It's NEARLY the same turbo that comes in a thunderbird that's why I jumped on it.

I'm not sure what to do with it atm as I'm slow with cash flow. So I'd like to use it, I emailed a guy on ebay that makes adapters and he said he'd make me one if I sent him a gasket and some specs. That will be roughly $60-80 though.

Yeah, the Tbird IHI can flow the same amount of air at a lower PSI. Which is good for cool air and efficiency (as stated in the link). Either way, if you use this turbo you'll have a good start, it's just not optimal, especially if you plan to make more power.

But, if your budget is tight, stick to what you have and get it running with it. Then as cash flow allows upgrade later.

Exactly what I was thinking. Start off small to get a feel for it but build proper the first time. Everything will be optimal except the turbo. I know that tuning with be my friend. Just trying to locate a reasonably priced XCAL... :(

I'm going to try to source out an adapter or some way of making it work before I get this guy on ebay to make me one. I can see a custom one costin me more.

Right now, I have the 255lph fuel pump, full turbo with internal WG, BOV, has a bit of oil return line attached, and water lines attached. I have access to my buddies Innovate LC-1 wideband controller with O2 sensor for tuning :D
Going to order up a header here shortly Jess.

Still a bunch of things I need but SLOWLY they'll get here haha, even tho these parts all just came at once.

Atleast you have a plan. Sometimes thats better than the parts that are picked.

This is now up for sale...

$220obo for complete turbo with intercooler. I'll obviously ship but I can see it being quite a bit probably around the $50 mark.
