Well I finally got my motor in and it will not start ...it kicks a little and thats it. I did a compression test and all cylinders are around 50 pounds .:banghead:

I rebuilt this engine and I used the pistons from my 83 turbo mustang , the tops of the pistons are kinda hollowed or dished out instead of just having the notch for the valve . could this do it ?

I checked the timing again and again but now I'm confused and don't know which is right or wrong . Can someone please tell me how to time the 97 2.3 engine ?please.

p.s I used the 97 head as well as the block and crankshaft.

Cam timing could be off. To time it put the crank to TDC and line up all the marks on the pulleys. Comp should be close to 150.

Finally it's running . The timing was wrong . Now my turbo is leaking oil around the rear seal .

Yeah , I had the marks mixed up ....several different ways .

The turbo is an IHI off a 87/88 turbo coupe.

Will the exhaust work with a stock manifold in the stock location?

ya it will bolt up but you might have some problems getting a down pipe on it it your running a heater box. you can weld the down pipe straight onto the turbine wastegate cover flange. if its the 4 inch exit then forget about it wont work you'll need a header.
