ARP rod bolts on stock rods

Is it true to have to modify your stock rods so you can put ARP rod bolts in them? Are they pressed in?

I have heard guys say that they must be checked after installing ARP's. I never had a problem fitting stock rods with ARP's. It could in some way mess up the tolerances but I don't see how that would happen very easy.
