I found these links a while ago, and plan to do this when I have the money to grab the part. Its pretty easy to do, a home-made and stock looking adjustable fuel pressure regulator that fits the stock fuel rails up to '94 IIRC:

crownvic.us forums link (http://www.crownvic.us/forum/showthread.php?8661-Home-made-boost-referenced-adjustable-fuel-pressure-regulator.)
and
turbolx how-to link (http://turbolx.150m.com/The-fuel-regulator.htm)

You take a fuel pressure regutor from early '80s throttle body injection fords. You can get them new, Standard Motor Products P/N PR6, or find them in the wrecking yards. I checked around on the net to figure out what to watch for in the wrecking yards, and I found that these are on early-'80s 5.0L TBIs and mid-'08s 3.8L TBIs. I found this list on one website listing the PR6 FPR:

83-86 Ford / ltd
84-86 Ford / mustang
83-87 Ford / thunderbird
80-85 Lincoln / continental
80-85 Lincoln / mark series
82-85 Lincoln / town car
84-86 Mercury / capri
83-87 Mercury / cougar
83-85 Mercury / grand marquis
84-86 Mercury / marquis

I actually want to do this with my current N/A 2.5 since the stock '98 up trucks have stock fuel pressure higher than my '93.
Maybe this will help some folks, I know a lot of us just bite the bullet and buy a decent new one, but I am personally more interested in new stock and restored old stock parts. Maybe someone can confirm this, but I believe all these cars also have a high flow low impedance injector on the TB.

95 an up uses the 2 bolt regulator. accell sells a adjustable 1 for the mustang for about the same price of a stock replacement.
my 97 wouldnt take any more pressure then 39#. at 40# it would get boggy.
