does the turbo compressor housing contact the #1 exhaust pipe tubing in any kind of way? i have had some stainless headers that seem to be either welded incorrectly or welded wrong all together.

Jesshwarren

With a standard turbo there are no problems. If any one wants to run a Holset ask for the spacer kit. I run the Holset H1C and have encountered no problems. I even had an HX-40 on there for a while.
I make sure all these headers are up to par http://rangersrevenge.com/products/header%20mods/index.html (http://rangersrevenge.com/products/header%20mods/index.html)

How much for the spacer kit, and how does the spacer kit work? Does it go between the head and header, or between the header and turbo?

ben_2_go
01-08-2008, 03:30 PM
Hey Jess, while you're here, would you post all the turbos that will fit the header.Let us know if they need the spacer kit,too.Thanks.

Jesshwarren
01-08-2008, 04:10 PM
Most every t3 footprint turbo will fit. The only turbo that needs a spacer is the holsets. Any one want to run a holset just inform me I'll set it up for you.

The reason a holset needs a spacer is because of the large compressor housing it interferes with the front runner on the header.

I have always ran a spacer on mine with the holsets. There was never any need to use a spacer with any other turbo?s, and I?ve ran a bunch of different turbo?s.

What do you need a IHI adapter for? A IHI should fit with no problem.

Yea I sent it out Monday, I was surprised how much it costs to send one over the Lake :wink5:

Well, isnt the flange on the header for a T3? IHI has a different footprint. At least the one I have.

Well, isnt the flange on the header for a T3? IHI has a different footprint. At least the one I have.

Turbo Coupe IHI's use the same footprint as a T3.

Jess, I was wondering what you suggest for running the EGR through the wastegate flange?

That would be hard. If it was me I would run it out of the down pipe. You need EGR?

 I suppose not, but I'm running an internal wategate so I will still need to make block off plate for the header wastegate flange.

Don't run the EGR if you don't have to, its just another PITA to worry about.

Just received my turbo header today :) Came yesterday but I didn't have proper cash to give the guy for customs. Somehow I STILL got customs on my gift :( Was only $11 tho. Didn't feel like givin a $9 tip yesterday so I waited until today to go pick it up.
Lemme tell ya, it's MINT haha. Lovin' it.

And my IHI is off of a MX-6 so it's a smaller footprint. It's square. It's also for sale now :p

Jesshwarren

Just to let you know. It's a good idea to run a flex joint at the bottom of your down pipe. With a solid exhaust it's a good way to crack a header. Something has got to give with motor twist under hard acceleration .

I have always ran a flex joint on mine.

Riddle_Rob

Ask Stinger ;) jk, I’ll tell you. They are made in China. They where designed in the U.S. and the blueprints where sold to China from what I know. Now they are manufactured in China.

I mounted mine last weekend and had to drill out of three of the bolt holes on the flange that mounts to the head. It was so close to fitting, but I didn't want to risk stripping the head. You can't expect every head to be exactly the same. Just a heads up if anyone else has problems getting the bolts started.

flyin
02-07-2008, 01:34 PM
mine was the same way i started started most of the bolts with the head very loose then tightened them each a little at a time. It was very tight.

Try using a ball end 8mm allen wrench or hex socket. It helped quite a bit.

Jesshwarren
02-07-2008, 10:40 PM
Like Flyin said!!

All bolts must be started before any are tightened. It's a close fit.

jess, with no fab experience, whats the best way to run the bov outlet, off your header, back into the exhaust pipe? is there any way to do it by bolting (pita, leaky) or would i have to take it somewhere and have it fabbed after i get it installed? AJ has a perfect example of a side shot pic as his personal id pcture on this site. any thoughts?

+1 I too am curious, also what are the gains compared to the E6 mani?

I think there's too many variables to actually pin that one down... Although someone on TF did some flow testing about a year ago with all 3 header designs. I know flow testing doesn't equal HP, but it's a good way to tell what's happening beginning to end on a header. The center tube header flowed better than the stock mount tube header in that test.

I have been a member of TRS= TheRangerStation since 11/2007 & I plan to convert my 94 2wd to 4wd using a SAS & I would like to also Turbo my 2.3. Is it a fairly easy bolt on set up that the ranger can use? Does the stock N/A engine need to have anything done to it to be turboed? I have already replaced the 3.45 7.5 with a 4.10 L/S 8.8 rearend. Running 31x10.50/15s,plan to be running 4.56 gears with 33x10.50. Not looking to Drag race, but want the extra power for hauling & towing.

yeah its a bolt on after you get some forged pistons. If you dont want to go into your motor then this is not the swap for you. And you need to get it tuned after the turbo is on there.

There's a bunch of threads on this forum relating to this question.
