I'm curious to have your opinion.

the situation:
real bad tune solve to a lean condition and rich condition until the last extra lean run who result to a compression lost in first cylinder.
the piston #1 his deformed in a oval shape but doesn't exceed the 87.5mm of the bore. I took some measurement of the cylinder and it look perfect. look in all the angle in the bore and didn't find any scratch.
now the concern...
I remove the piston and connecting rod of the bloc yesterday and at the first look everything look integer. But, at first manipulation to remove rings, everything fall apart :(

I still can see the honing in the cylinder bore... is it still possible that the cylinder are fine or I'm just dreaming?:banghead:

normally pistons are more fragile than the iron cylinders with the stock duratec pistons only being cast/hyperutectic aluminum. check the bore for out of round but unless overheated bad it may be fine.

ouff!
perfect, I keep it like this.
I just order a flex hone tool for alu to resurface and deglace the wall. after that rings gaping and put every thing back fun :yesnod:

thanks

The cylinders on the duratec are cast iron. They are cast into the aluminum when the block is poured. So I think you need a hone for cast iron.

:conf45: why I'm I always so impatient. :banghead:
Since I was unable to see any sleeve edge I automatically thinks it was all in aluminum. I try a magnet this morning and it's not alu...
Thanks TIMMA

Will my tool be completely ineffective or it could work?

I just don't get why you are changing your pistons... That piston looks in perfect shape to me!

I bought the SCT Pro Racer for my truck and I hope to exchange some tuning info with you. I need to actually start my build so I can start a thread. I have got a lot of parts collected so far.

As long as the bore is not badly scored, your fine. You just need to hone it to break the glaze.
