View Full Version : Kurt's Turbocharged Ranger
Hey everyone. Thought I would post a Pick of my engine bay and some specs of the setup.
2000 Ford Ranger
2WD Short bed
Automatic
2.5 block w/ Turbo(forged) 2.3 Pistons/rod/crank (2.3L)
T3/T4 hybrid - TO4E 46trim compressor - T3 stage III Turbine w/.83 housing
42lbs injectors
90mm Ford MAF
Front mount IC
Greddy Bypass
Kenne Bell boost a pump
Exhaust manifold built by me.
3 inch exhaust with Dynomax ultra flow
Tuned with Sniper Tuning Special Forces.
When I was designing my layout it was important to me to keep all accessories and to try and keep everything in its stock location. It turned out really well and am really happy with everything so far.... (except the cost  )

Nice and Clean. I like your welded IC piping, cuts down on alot of stuff in the engine bay.

What auto are you using?Has it been built?I'm planning to try an auto.Cool truck.
Thanks for the comments guys.
So far I like the sniper software... but I would consider myself to still be evaluating it.
As far as the automatic, it is a 4r44e. It is not built, but it is fresh. It's the reason I got the truck. The previous owner fried the trans. I rebuilt it and did any updates to it. So far it's holding up just fine to 15lbs. But I don't thrash it or drive it like I stole it. And it's never had sticky tires on it. Maybe someday.... Tranmissions can fail for a lot of reasons... depends on how you drive them.
If this one becomes a pain, I'll try the 4R55E.

yea it looks really clean im happy that turbo worked for you if you need to upgrade to a bigger one or a different turbine housing or if you go in a direction let me know i wrote all the information on that turbo down for reference.
Hey, good to see you joined. I can show you why I choose the 46 trim rather than the 60 trim. Check it out, you can see that it's kind of a no brainer for my particular combo. These maps are showing about 21lbs of boost. The most I would ever run is 25lbs of boost, and that would still stay in the 74% efficiency range with the 46 trim.
BTW, I've ran it a little at 20lbs.... it rocks. But, I keep it at 15 for daily driving.
46 trim (http://www.squirrelpf.com/turbocalc/graph.php?version=4&pr0=1&pr1=1.07&pr2=1.69&pr3=2.32&pr4=2.32&pr5=2.32&pr6=2.32&pr7=2.32&airflow0=2.6&airflow1=7.8&airflow2=14.9&airflow3=24&airflow4=27.6&airflow5=29.6&airflow6=31.8&airflow7=32.5&product_id=56)
60 Trim (http://www.squirrelpf.com/turbocalc/graph.php?version=4&pr0=1&pr1=1.07&pr2=1.69&pr3=2.32&pr4=2.32&pr5=2.32&pr6=2.32&pr7=2.32&airflow0=2.6&airflow1=7.8&airflow2=14.9&airflow3=24&airflow4=27.6&airflow5=29.6&airflow6=31.8&airflow7=32.5&product_id=61)
