SO hopefully I will start putting a turbo motor together.
I could easily get a 2.3l from an 85 ranger but I don't think that is the ideal platform. From what I have read OBDII is the way to go. I would like to do it as cheap as possible and be capable of 400hp

Here's what I think is best and why: please add some input
Block: 2.3l block from 95-97 ford (prlly ranger)
Pistons: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=TRW%2DL2500F%2D75MM&autoview=sku
Rods: Crowers are great, but I can't spend 300+ for a set so im lost here. in the parts list by Jess he lists rods for a 2.3l for 50 bux (where at?)
Crank: Stock correct?
Rings: Jess uses Hastings turbo rings so those should be fine
Head: Stock head until I can get an esslinger cam and/or oversized valves
turbo: Holset 35, I don't know the differences between Hx35y, and Hx35w. H1c is still an option
Header: The one on this site of course

Are stock parts forged? (or stock turbo only)

Should I go junkin for a 2.3l stock turbo and just use the parts from it in my OBDII block?

Strappping necessary?

What would be the first thing to break? (other than my clutch/trans/rearend)

What would it take to turbo the 85 2.3l that I can get for free?
