for those of you in northeast area you might have heard of "harry's you pull it" junkyard. they got awesome prices and a huge selection. I have never had a turbo car or worked on one, I am building an engine to turbo and swap into my ranger and was wondering the best stock vehicle parts to grab. (tryin to save $$)

I have been readin alot of these forums and so far my goal is to grab a turbo from a 94 and up cummins. I also read about turbos having surge and messing up the fins and shaft. Is there any stock vehicles that came with an anti-surge ring? or can i install an anti surge ring on an older turbo?

I also way curious about ford 250 and 350 diesels, and duramax diesels and the turbos on them. does anyone have any input on them? i also plan on getting an intercooler, i read forums of people using volvo ic's, any other vehicles have good ones? any other input would help, stock oil coolers, and piping for the turbo and ic, ect.

This isn't specific to building motors.

I can tell you that the 6.0 ford diesel will have a variable geometry turbo. This sounds good but it acts more like a wastegate than a small/big turbo setup. Also watch out for carbon deposits that bind the VGT mechanism. I don't know the specs on the 7.3 turbo but it is conventional with a wastegate, however it doesn't have a t3 footprint. If I remember correct it is a Vband inlet and outlet on the exhaust side. It has been a few years since i had one apart. With the duramax I am clueless

Did you go? Unless the stars aligned, I'm guessing you were rudely awakened by the fact that you don't find a lot of even moderately "exotic" stuff at Harry's. If you're looking for something common - say, an Explorer alternator, it's a great place to go. Holset? Not so much....
