A 87 Turbo motor will bolt in no problem same block ect. You could put the 94 head on it your call, that way you could then keep the stock ranger intake.

A friend of mine is looking into tuning the ECU on the pre 95 rangers. I'll keep you posted. I know others that would like to know if tuning can be done on the ranger ECU. It would be with the J3 and tuner pro SW.

I know it can tune the LA3 SVO ecu and some of the others.

You could google tuner pro and check and see what you find.

If it pans out that the Pre 95 Ranger ECU's can't be tuned (easily) then you'll have to swap in the Turbo Car's ECU. Then repin your Ranger harness to match what the Turbo ECU needs. It's rather simple to do, it just looks hard cause there looks like a million wires running under the hood.

If you look HERE (http://rangersrevenge.com/cgi/showthread.php?t=40) I have listed all the turbo computer pinouts, and the pinouts for a 94 Ranger. This is 98% of what you'll need in order to rewire the truck. The other 2% is interpretation.

Feel free to direct any questions my way, but I'd like for most questions to be posted in the forums since its new and we need the knowledge base put out here. I'll help along the way as much as I can.
