Here is yahoo group on the twin cam Volvo head swap on 2.3 Ford engines found in Rangers,SVO Mustangs,Thunderbirds,Cougar, and Merkurs. Most of these are conversion for turbo. If you're thrifty and have the resources you can do one for a few hundred dollars. From my understanding most people spend between $800 and $1200 just building the head.Welding and machine are a must for this conversion to work, regaurdless of head condition. Please post pics if you're doing this conversion.

There's a lot of pics on the Yahoo Group that pretty much show every thing that needs to be done in detail. It's not very hard if you can weld and do basic machining.Makes me wish I had my old job back.I had a full machine shop and welding shop there.Just think, before the internet, most of us would have to pay a specialist thousands of dollars to do this conversion. Now,all you have to do is ask for the info.
BTW Thanks Jess for all the info you share with us on your site.

Guys
There's no need to weld/add the block on the head. Don Haulsee came up with a method to eliminate the need for any welding on the B234F Volvo head..
Mike/Map
Any links or pics to this guys solution?
Guys
The pictures of the 2 Volvo heads belong to me..
I'm going a different direction on the Volvo swap, notice the 2V head! You can buy the turbo heads for 10 to 25 Bux bolt on and loose 35+ Lb..
Mike/Map
Does the 2V head flow just as much as the 4V version?

I'm doing the 4V swap just because it's a rarity.No welding would def make it easier.Do you know how it's done?Any pics?Thanks.

Do you have a traction problem? Your ET is way off for your combo?
Mike
Yes I did have a traction problem.
It is all solved now, wait till the track opens I'll have some new best MPH & E/T's
I was running street tires when I trapped at 106MPH I never ran slicks with the 2.5L the 106MPH was with stock head and cam non ported. I now have the 2277 cam bigvalve ported head. It's WILD!!
Recent upgrades.
8.8" 31spline with a mini spool
Just bought a custom built C4 warranted for 500HP from Jackson Performance Transmissions in NC
Just bought a custom built Converter from PTC http://www.ptcrace.com/
I have a custom set of traction bars going on the truck.
With launching at 20PSI of boost on the line with slicks I hope to pull 1.7-1.8 60' times.
I should be close to 400RWHP and that should give me 11's
Waiting for spring

Bob Myers has my old turbo Capri, last year it went 12.30s 112.0 with a stock 2.3 short block and a ranger roller and a stock T-3 with a clipped wheel and .63 Hot side & 373 gear. with bob in the car it was around 3200Lb.

Lighten the Ranger a bit and I'd bet you could pull sub 1.7's

Yea I should strip out the inside and put one race seat in. I could probably go 150lb's lighter.

I was looking around on craigs list today and seen volvo parts for sale. The guy has 84-95 240,740 and 940 parts and a large variety of engine parts from the B230f, B230ft and the B234F 16 valve. Im going to give the guy a call when I get off work and see what he has, and if its priced right ill go and take the 16v head and all. (intake, exh.,belt tensioner,ect...) I was wondering does any one have like a list of every thing that needs to be done? or a good place to go look. I know some but not enough.lol
