How do you check if your oil pump is still OK?

Just wondering how i could check to make sure my oil pump is still ok. I was going to just buy a new one but they want 300 bucks for one so maybe i can rebuild mine or test is some how.

you could take it apart and inspect it. everything should look clean with no scoring. cover plate should have a nice swirl pattern on it. rotors should look clean also and look like brushed aluminum on the leading edges.

They are pretty easy to disassemble. Had one apart once, not a lot to them.

Mine looks fine, so has anyone had any issues with their oil pump giving up the ghost?

can you run the engine? My first thought would be to check the oil pressure....
