Is there any threads out there about the bare minimum needed to run 5psi. I think it would make a good base then eventually put bigger better parts in it. I think i read some places get the calibrated injector and maf, then i turbo and I should be able to run 5 psi all day. That should be good for a solid about 50 hp with an intercooler right?

yea probbly but for all the effort why not set it up for a little higher boost but still run it low untill you feel safe to drop the hammer?
38lb and 42 lb injectors with a 90mm lightning mass is the recomended combo with a chip so whynot just go and do that but set the boost low untill you feel you want to push more....

how reliable would it be to do just that birdmanslopy?

Has anyone actually done it? Also what gains would you get from running bigger injectors, 90mm maf and a P&P big valve head on a NA engine? Has anyone done or heard of doing this?

I sold a M50D trans to a guy that said he was doing that. He also said Jess was helping him with the tune for it.

thats what I was thinking! The boost would have to be set low though because it would have the regular pistons / rods in it. Then I could crank it up once I get them put in too. I dont even think a tune would be required. I was thinking turbo, intercooler, injectors, maf, and high band oxy sensor should be enough for a good start.

i dont see the point, why not put some forged pistons in there and know that it will be bulletproof, boost is addicting and it will inevitably get turned up, and you will wind up with some melted pistons and a tow truck bill, just for trying to be cheap. sometimes certain upgrades like a bulletproof forged bottom end is money well spent, just my opinion

agreed it is a little more work. being cheap can cost a fortune.
