View Full Version : Turbo Ranger Emblems
So I've been working on some new emblems. I would like to start making them in the next couple weeks. What do you guys think? Look good or does it need some tweaks yet?

Can a 2.3T be fit in there somewhere without making it too big?
Otherwise I like the idea, I'm not sure how well the boxy outline of the TURBO flows, but the idea is a great start.
How about starting with the NEW Ranger style emblems and doing a TURBO addition to those ones?

Great idea!
I like that one you've got mocked up. But if there is a way to get 2.3 on there that would be cool.
Wish i knew how to do stuff like that lol
The "turbo" part is made to look just like the "XLT" part of an emblem. Look at your emblem and you'll see what I mean. This is the way Ford did it.
They used this logo design From 1989 through 2005! You want the late (2006-up) model emblem? I don't think that there is quite the demand for those yet.
I had thought about putting a 2.3 on, but it doesn't work so well, and not everyone runs a 2.3.
I had considered doing a full length "Turbocharged" above the ranger, but that didn't look right either.

that looks good! i am runnin a 2.5l so i think it should just stay wit "ranger turbo" or something a long those lines? What a bout a window decal? i think that would be sick! since i took all the decals off my truck to make it clean looking i would rather a decal, but thats me???
The added size of the turbo lettering must be throwing it off in my mind. I havent seen my 94 for a while to remember the lettering.
I think there would be a lot of people interested in the newer design if you could design one. That's what I'd be up for.

Had to go take a look at my truck to see what the old emblem looked like. I must say your emblem looks just like factory.
I'd have to see a new design to see which one i'd like better but i'm really liken the one you've got now.
This is what the new ones look like. If it could say Turbo where the XLT is I'd be all over it.

i really like the idea for the 89-05 badges.
on the new ranger badges you could incorporate something along the lines of "Turbocharged I4" in the space where the "XLT" is.

i like the idea of 2.3. the "ranger turbo" would be a good replacement for the front fenders and i like to put a ranger badge on the tale gate.
Any updates on these ?????
Update:
The Tooling is in the process of being made, and we should see some prototype parts within about 1-2 weeks, weather permitting.

Right on! Can't wait to see them!!
Kurt, you doing both styles? Or just the ones you posted?
At this point in time, I am only moving forward with the older style. After that one is complete, I will consider the newer style. I would have to do some more research as to if there really is the demand for it or not.
BTW, the tooling is done. Maybe we will see some parts yet this week.
Here you go. The first sample.

uhhhhhhh..... what does TUR30 mean????? J/K... man they look factory, great job! (the B looks like a 3 to me, and I can't seem to get that picture out of my HEAD! :banghead: )
No mounting posts. No Price yet.
I agree about the "B". I am going to close it and the "R" up on a couple of parts to see if it looks better or worse.

That was what looked odd to me, I just couldn't place it. That's why I'm pushing for the newer design. Complete lettering.
These ones still look good though and will fulfill the need of many.

I have to ask, how are you making these? Rapid Prototype?
Also, how would we mount these without mountin posts? Does anyone know of a glue that would work?
You have to keep in mind that the posts primary function is for locating not attaching. All emblems are held on by the use of a special double sided tape. 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape - #06383
As a matter of fact, the great majority of emblems do not have posts.

Hmmm that i did not know. Well in that case it doesn't really matter does it.
After much tweaking, adjusting, and redoing I have come up with what I think are two improved candidates. A lot of very fine adjustments have been made from the former design, but I am stuck on one feature and I can't decided. So, I need you guys to help me decide. Take a look at the two pictures and give me your input as to which you like better. The only difference between the two is the "R" in "TURBO".

i like the first one with the "R" open. it matches the ranger better.
do you know how much these will be, and would you be able to get them all chrome, or would i have to do like the stock ranger emblems and take some acetone to them??

This looks like it's going to be the final. The initial lot is pretty small. I hope to have at least ten sets (pairs) to sell right off of the bat, with more to follow closely behind. I will be selling them in two ways. One with polished face (shown) and ones with a brushed face. I will be making a new post in the classifieds with all the info for purchase by the end of this coming week if everything goes right. Hope you like them.

Kurt, any more thought into making the new style emblems with turbo on them?
Know anyone that could send me one to borrow so I can copy it?
Unfortunately I don't, and I'm not currently in a position to find any. Every now and then they pop up on Ebay for ~$10 though. I'll keep an eye out for something though.

swett i may stop in there and get me some as well nice find
Well, Kurt hasn't visited the site since October 29 :( I was hoping he'd jump on here and give some feed back. Or, if he was dealing with a vendor to produce those emblems, I'd get the info and see about getting the new style made up and produced if he didn't want to.
Right now I'm trying to find some places on line that do custom emblems and see about some pricing.
These are now for sale.

um wasn't the emblem thing associate with the rangerstation about closing down?
Ohhhh.... good point. Didn't think of that.
I'm not a member there, so I'm not sure if he was affiliated with TRS at all.
Hey guys.
I've been hibernating.
Couple of things. I haven't made any emblems recently. I sold out on all the completed ones I had. All I have left are uncompleted. I don't plan on casting anymore anytime soon. Sorry, I didn't mean to leave everyone in the dark and I apologize for not responding to a couple of PM's.
BTW, I wasn't involved in the rangerstation thing.
So, no plan to do any new ones? I'll even buy the OEM one for you to make the pattern!
To truthfully answer your question, yes. I would do more emblems (or intake manifolds or brackets or anything else you would want). But I don't think you want to pay me hundreds of dollars for a pattern or mold any more then I want to give away 20+ hours of my life for nothing.
My point is, someone (you or me) has to put there neck out on the line.... aka money. Whether you do it with cash or I do it with time, it's the same in the end. At the very best, I broke even with the other emblems. I don't think that the newer emblems are going to do better, so I am not will to risk my money/time on them. However, if you are confident that you can make money on them, and are willing to put forth your capitol, then I am more then willing to help you. PM me if your interested still. I'll give you my phone number and we can talk about it. Maybe we can work something out.

I'd be down for either the older rangerturbo emblems or the 2.3 turbo emblem. might prefer the older rangerturbo but either works for me.

He sent me a pm with price. All he has left in the 2.3 turbo ones are polished and he kind of eluded to that's all he had. I asked if he was going to make more but he has got back to me. I'd rather have them unpolished. I don't know whether to say if they are a bit high or right on cue being completely custom pieces.
