Why would someone throw away a turbo at a car wash?

maby they got it off ebay? that is kind of an odd find. the most i leave at a car wash is usualy a 5 dolar stack of quarters...

I deleted your other thread, it was not in the right section and don't post the same thing multiple times.

Get some pics of that turbo, someone might be able to help you out better.

I think you hit the nail on the head.... Looks like a "Ebay Special" to me!

Looks like a T3/T4 Hybrid, take it to a turbo rebuilder and see if they can put a Garrett center on it?

Yeah man, looks like a reverse engineered chinese ebay turbo lol.

Those things are hit and miss. I researched a lot about the "ebay" turbos, some people get ones that work well for thousands of miles, and some get ones that burn up within 100 miles. I damn sure wouldn't gamble 200 bucks on one since you can find a used quality turbo for around the same price.

You can probably take it to a turbo shop, and put new internals in it and it'll work like a champ(hopefully). It prolly just burnt up on someone within a few hundred miles and they got pissed off and just chunked it... why at a carwash? No idea.

EDIT: Why isn't there a database of turbo serial numbers so you can cross reference and see if they are legit or not?

Ya i really know nothing about turbos. I thought it would probably be a ebay since i could find any name brand cast in it. But hey it was shiny so i took it =) Still debating turboing my truck i wouldn't use this one ofc but it would be fun
