If it's cast start with 80 or 100, then 120, 220, 400, 600, 1000, 1500. Then you can start on the buffing compounds.

Ship it to me and ill do it. You don't have to sand it. If you think you can tackle it. The you'll need a sander/polisher. They sell them at napa and oriellys. Run about $80. Comes with a wool pad for waxing and a few other things also. You'll need to find a place that sells chrome and accessories for tractor trailers and get a polishing pad. I suggest keystone pads if they have them. Get you a white pad and some brown jewelers rouge and some green jewelers rouge also several terry cloth or microfiber towels for wiping after polishing. I have a link to my site on myspace with many pictures of my work. You'll really want a makita 7" angle grinder but its a bit of a handful if you've never used it for polishing as you can cause severe damage to the motor and yourself if the polishing pad catches a sharp edge. I've seen guys break wrists and fingers and rip off hundreds of dollars worth of lights on trucks. Plus the makita is $160. The other doesn't spin as fast and is half the price. Do not buy a chicago. It will burn up in minutes.

Being I am a dump truck driver, I find your work very interesting. I would like to pimp out my truck a bit and make it look like that. I also have some old aluminum rims that have not been taken care of and are in desperate need of polishing. I am gonna have to figure out how you did this. I also would like to make my fuel tank look like yours, but then it wouldn't last long, since I am not always highway driving.

It is and isn't as hard as it looks. Its relatively easy work once you get used to holding a 10lbs angle grinder spinning 6500rpm for hours at a time and learn how to keep it from burning the aluminum. Don't think black lines think white lines that distort the clarity of the shine. When I get a set of bullet rims again I'm thinking of polishing the whole rim intead of just the lip. Look like chrome only without having to worry about the chrome flaking. I also guarantee my work for 6 months if you follow my after care instructions.
